Travelling To Dubai During Ramadan

Ramadan is a holy month for them, so they are a bit strict on this. there are basic rules that anyone have to go by when in Public Areas.Eating and drinking in public during the daytime is forbidden and breaking this rule may very well result into a spell in jail. Alcohol is also highly unlikely to be available during the day .You cant drink, smoke, eat (even chew gum) from sunrise to sunset or until they declare the breaking of fast in the evening. However, visitors can order room service or eat at certain hotel restaurants. Establishments offering daytime refreshments during Ramadan are usually away from public view. Some restaurants also offer home delivery during Ramadan. It is advisable that women travellers dress conservatively and avoid flashy make up as conservative sentiments are at their peak during Ramadan. The streets will be packed and traffic will be horrible just before the breaking of fast as a lot of people will hurry to go home to break fast with families and friends. There will also be an increase of road accidents as people tend to drive fast just to be home on time. When taking a taxi or going from place to place avoid going out just before sunset, sometimes, if the taxi driver is a muslim and gets caught up on the road during prayer time, they might stop and lay their rugs on the roadside and pray - that means you will be waiting in the taxi until they finish praying. Some people who are fasting may have fluctuation of moods, because when they fast and are hungry during the day they may not even smile. so, dont be surprised! Also, men who are fasting will not talk to a lady and vise versa, they might not even look at you and will tend to ignore you. so dont get offended in case this happens. For ladies avoid wearing less clothes, if you can just try to wear something that covers your shoulders and avoid swearing or shouting in Public Areas as this is offensive for those who are fasting.

Some bars will be open, however majority will be closed. There will be no entertainment like live bands, disco and other events. It's traffic during the night time all over the city as a lot of families tend to go out together. Most beaches and public places will be jammed with people, especially the shops and restaurants. Most shops will be open after sunset, perhaps there might be a couple of them open during day time but very few. The hotels serves alcoholic beverage however only during evening (of course after sunset),

There will be some arabic tents on the beach offering hubbly bubbly (sheesha) - water pipes and the famous Ramadan menu.people sleep late during ramaadan and wake up late as well. so the streets are empty during day time and packed during night time.Shopping During Ramadan

Shopping is a very powerful motivating factor for going on Dubai holidays and the month of Ramadan makes for some gala retail therapy. Many of the shopping malls do stay open during the daytime and are refreshingly isolated. The shopping areas close during the day open for business after dusk. In fact, Ramadan proves to be great for some night time shopping in Dubai. The shopping malls and other shopping centres stay open late into the night. Special irresistible promotions are offered by a number of stores, restaurants, hotels, and airlines.
